EH&S Coordinator I
About the role
The EH&S Coordinator I plays an essential role in establishing and promoting a culture of safety within the Mission Critical specific sites they are assigned, focusing on compliance with both internal EH&S policies and external regulatory requirements. This position involves overseeing safety protocols at a specific site, ensuring the site adheres to the highest standards of workplace safety and health. By conducting regular audits, providing training, and implementing EH&S programs, the EH&S Coordinator I works to minimize risks, reduce workplace accidents, and maintain a safe, healthy environment for all employees. Through collaboration with various departments and site leadership teams, this role supports the organization’s commitment to safety, demonstrating the importance of proactive measures in safeguarding the well-being of its workforce.
Responsibilities
- Oversee safety protocols at a specific site
- Ensure adherence to both internal EH&S policies and external regulatory requirements
- Conduct regular audits to identify potential hazards and risks
- Develop and implement strategies to mitigate identified hazards
- Assess potential hazards and risks within operations and develop and implement strategies to mitigate them effectively
- Understand and apply incident investigation techniques and root cause analysis to identify underlying issues and develop solutions to prevent future occurrences
- Build relationships and collaborate with employees at all levels of the organization, as well as external stakeholders such as regulatory agencies and contractors
- Ensure compliance with all applicable safety regulations, personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements, and Loenbro's Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) policies
Requirements
- Construction Site Safety Supervisor (CSSS), Safety Trained Supervisor Construction (STSC), Site Safety Health Officer (SSHO) or equivalent preferred; OSHA 30 required
- Minimum 1 years prior experience working within the heavy industrial construction industry, including data centers, manufacturing, pipeline, mining, food and beverage, power, or refining environments
- Working knowledge of OSHA regulations, standards, and other applicable codes/regulations
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Understanding of and ability to learn incident investigation techniques and root cause analysis to identify underlying issues and develop solutions to prevent future occurrences
- Ability to understand emergency response plans and procedures and ensuring readiness for potential emergencies
- Familiarity with risk assessment methodologies such as Job Safety Analysis (JSA) or Hazard and Operability Study (HAZOP) to ensure comprehensive safety practices
- Experience in conducting safety audits or inspections to identify and address potential EH&S hazards
- Certification in First Aid/CPR, demonstrating the ability to respond effectively to safety incidents requiring immediate medical attention
- Proficiency in using MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) for documentation and reporting purposes
- Ability to use safety management software for reporting and documentation requirements
Qualifications
- Ability to Climb up and down stairs and ladders
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time
- Ability to traverse difficult terrain such as getting in and out of trenches/excavations and up to elevated platforms (scaffolding at significant heights)
- Lifting necessary equipment and materials 1-50 pounds, 50% of the time monthly for required tasks
- If driving is required, a valid driver’s license and proof of insurability is required. All drivers are subject to a DMV background records search.
