About the Role

The School-wide Positive Behavior Support (SW-PBS) Consultant assists Local Education Agencies (LEAs) in establishing and maintaining effective social/behavioral systems to improve academic performance and social behavior for all students. The role builds the capacity of district-level personnel, administrators, and teachers to develop and sustain the SW-PBS framework through training, materials, and support services. This includes forming district leadership teams (DLTs) and building leadership teams (BLTs) and providing just-in-time training and support as they build multi-tiered systems of behavioral support.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with DESE and SW-PBS Consultants statewide to provide consistent, high-quality standards for implementing the SW-PBS framework in districts and schools.
• Collaborate with other DESE initiatives (e.g., DCI and DCI-MTSS) to provide effective and efficient supports to districts and schools.
• Ensure all districts/buildings identified for recognition have signed partnership agreements and are currently implementing the initiative.
• Provide training and support to identified districts and schools implementing the MO SW-PBS framework.
• Assist districts and schools in monitoring and evaluating the fidelity and implementation level of the SW-PBS framework using DESE-approved tools.
• Assist LEAs in determining training needs and procuring Regional Professional Development Center (RPDC) personnel for High-Quality Professional Development (HQPD).
• Assist in the collection and analysis of data for identified districts and schools.
• Provide support in leadership components of PBS as indicated by LEA need.
• Provide training and coaching using SW-PBS materials and resources collaboratively planned with other RPDC consultants.
• Serve on a DCI Coaching Support Team (CST) to provide training and coaching on SW-PBS activities, as assigned by DESE.
• Advertise all trainings using the same title and description provided by DESE to ensure statewide consistency.
• Participate in developing, refining, and revising training and support materials when requested by the SW-PBS State Coordinator or DESE.
• Engage in team coaching practices, including coaching preparation, facilitation of feedback, and adherence to established coaching plans.
• Participate in trainings for newly hired SW-PBS consultants, as requested by the SW-PBS State Coordinator.
• Attend and actively participate in statewide monthly resource, support, and training meetings, as designated by the master calendar.
• Attend, participate, and present at the annual Summer Institute as requested.
• Participate in state professional development opportunities applicable to SW-PBS as requested and approved.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least 2 years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of psychology, behavior analysis, and factors affecting the application of behavior principles in schools.
• Experience with classroom management, function-based thinking (FBT), and Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA).
• Experience developing Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP).
• Skills in effective meeting management, curriculum development, coaching, presenting, consulting, and facilitating.
• Conflict resolution and problem-solving abilities.
• Leadership skills and experience using technology to enhance professional development, including virtual technologies and synchronous online instruction.
• Experience developing high-quality professional development.
• Strong communication skills, including face-to-face, virtual, and social media communication.
• Experience with family and community involvement.

Travel

Travel is primarily limited to the consultant’s region and neighboring RPDC regions, except for DESE-required activities, meetings, or conferences.

Pay

The anticipated hiring range for this position is $53,976 - $69,576 annually. Salary is determined by education, skills, experience, and organizational requirements.
