Educational Interpreter - American Sign Language (ASL)

Job Summary

BASIC FUNCTION: Under the direction of the Principal, assist a certificated teacher in reinforcing instruction to individual or small groups of deaf and hard of hearing students in a classroom or other learning environment by performing interpreting, translating and tutorial services.

Education/Experience

• Requirement: Certified with Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) or equivalent.
• Federal Requirement: Degree or completion of 48 semester units from an accredited college or university or district assessment/county certificate showing compliance with ESSA are required.
• Proof is required.

Examination

• The selection process will consist of competitive application screening for completeness, qualifications, and experience.
• Application evaluation (weighted 10%) and an oral interview exam (weighted 90%) will be conducted.
• A passing score must be achieved on each portion to be placed on the eligibility list.
• Final interviews for specific vacancies will be scheduled from the approved eligibility list.
