Educational Care Coordinator - Day Treatment - Seasonal

About the role
The Educational Care Coordinator (ECC) is a member of the trauma-informed, multidisciplinary day treatment team that facilitates successful continuation of school services and re-integration plans for each patient admitted. The ECC partners with the family, the patient, and local school district personnel to support families/caregivers in obtaining schoolwork necessary to minimize stressors related to being out of the school setting while in treatment.
This position provides training for internal and external systems regarding social/emotional needs as related to learning and participating in the social context of a school setting. Provides advocacy and coordination to families for obtaining appropriate documentation to support recommended school settings, modifications, and accommodations. Demonstrates competence in providing age-appropriate education and care to patients from age 12-17 years. The ECC demonstrates and models Dayton Children’s values through effective interaction with patients, families, and treatment team members while providing excellent care.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate continuation of school services and re-integration plans for patients
- Partner with families, patients, and school districts to obtain necessary schoolwork
- Provide training on social/emotional needs related to learning and school participation
- Advocate and coordinate for families to obtain appropriate school documentation
- Support recommended school settings, modifications, and accommodations
- Deliver age-appropriate education and care for patients aged 12-17
- Model Dayton Children’s values in interactions with patients, families, and team members
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Education, or other related field (required)
- 1-2 years experience in education or mental health (preferred)
Schedule
- Full time, 40 hours per week
- Day shift: 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM
- Seasonal position: 10-month program (prorated pay and PTO)
- Off during summer months
- Serving the Day Treatment clinic at the Mathile Center
