About the Role
To implement instructional activities and programs as directed. The role involves working with students individually, in small groups, or in large groups under the supervision of a teacher or specialist. Educational Assistants may support students in the general school population or those with identified special needs, including those with Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
Responsibilities
- Work with students individually, in small groups, or in large groups as prescribed by the supervisor.
- Demonstrate sensitivity to the needs of assigned children.
- Carry out instructional or developmental activities suggested by the teacher, specialist, or building administrator.
- Maintain competency and skills through professional development opportunities.
- Assist with personal care needs of students, if required.
- Obtain and maintain CPI (Non-Violent Crisis Prevention Intervention) certification, if expected.
- Other responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements
- High school graduate (preferably with college experience).
- Experience working with children.
- Ability to lift 30 pounds.
Pay
Hourly salary of $19.56, plus:
- $1.00 per hour for certification as a Paraeducator II or as a teacher from the NH Department of Education.
- $3.00 per hour differential for certification as a Registered Behavioral Technician (RBT).
Schedule
6.5 hours per day, 183 days per school year (2026-2027).
Evaluation
Performance will be evaluated no less than annually by the building administrator and immediate supervisor(s).
Reports to: Assigned teacher(s). Confers with: Teachers, specialists, and building administrators.
