Educational Assistant - Special Education (F/T) (Lancaster Elementary School)

About the Role

This position supports instructional activities and programs under the direction of assigned teacher(s), specialists, and building administrators. Educational Assistants may work with students in the general school population or with students who have identified special needs as defined in an Individual Education Plan (IEP).

Responsibilities

• Work with students individually, in small groups, or in large groups as prescribed by the immediate supervisor.
• Demonstrate sensitivity to the needs of assigned children.
• Carry out instructional or developmental activities suggested by the teacher, specialist, or building administrator.
• Maintain competency and skills through available professional development offerings.
• May be responsible for personal care needs of student(s).
• May be required to obtain and maintain CPI (Non-Violent Crisis Prevention Intervention) certification.
• Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

• High school graduate (preferably with college experience).
• Experience working with children.
• Ability to lift 30 pounds.

Pay

Hourly salary of $19.56, plus:

• $1.00 per hour for NH Department of Education certification as a Paraeducator II or as a teacher.
• $3.00 per hour differential for certification as a Registered Behavioral Technician (RBT).

Schedule

6.5 hours per day, 183 days per school year.
