Schedule
- 6.5 hours per day, Monday–Friday
- 181 work days (2026/2027 school year)
- Regular/Probationary contract status
- Non-exempt (FLSA classified)
Pay
- $21.25 per hour with benefits
- District contributes 6% of salary to Oregon Public Employee Retirement System (PERS/OPSRP) Individual Account Program (IAP) upon eligibility (6 full calendar months or 600 hours in a calendar year for part-time employees)
Responsibilities
- Exercise independent judgment in managing classroom/program operations consistent with administrative direction, district policies, and instructional goals.
- Work effectively with and respond to people from diverse cultures or backgrounds.
- Assist in instructing students in small-group and one-on-one settings; adjust lesson plans or teaching strategies during instructional activities as needed to achieve learning goals under licensed staff supervision.
- Provide supplemental practice through drills and activities using strategies designed by licensed staff to reinforce or modify skills.
- Prepare instructional materials, including copying, developing visual aids, and distributing supplies and equipment.
- Facilitate positive interpersonal relationships among students and adults; promote student safety by helping develop self-confidence.
- Train and assist students in behavior management and social skills; respond to discipline problems and act as a role model.
- Maintain high standards and expectations to encourage independent learning and personal growth.
- Maintain, store, and retrieve information accurately using standard office systems and software.
- Supervise student activities throughout the building, including outside the classroom and traditional instructional day (e.g., homework club, tutoring).
- Assist licensed staff in training volunteers and professionals to support the district’s educational plan.
- Exercise independent judgment to resolve issues and respond to requests within specialized areas of assignment.
- Perform minor medical and health procedures in compliance with state and district guidelines.
- Perform other related services as assigned.

Requirements
- Associate’s degree (or higher), two years of post-secondary study (72 quarter or 48 semester credits), or a passing score on a district-approved assessment.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, including communications to parents under the direction of licensed staff.
- Interest in learning to use alternative communication systems.
- Ability to formulate ideas for program improvement.
- Ability to collect, record, store, retrieve, organize, and utilize information efficiently.
- Ability to understand and implement student discipline policies and manage student behavior effectively.
- Ability to work with challenging behaviors and problem-solve difficult situations using intervention strategies.
- Ability to understand and implement instructional goals and support them through work assignments.
- Ability to interact effectively and collaboratively with individuals and groups of all ages.
- Ability to independently organize and carry out work assignments, follow student schedules or individualized education plans, and direct the work of students and others.
- Proficiency in using classroom/program equipment and technology.
- Ability to obtain specialized training as required.
- Ability to travel among district facilities; if driving, must meet district driving standards.
- Standard First Aid certification, or ability to obtain within two months of hire (may be required).
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to talk, hear, stand, walk, use hands to handle objects/tools, and reach with hands and arms (frequently above shoulder level).
- Occasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
- Regularly lift, move, or carry up to 50 pounds; frequently lift and/or move up to 80 pounds; occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds with assistance.
- Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- May be exposed to bloodborne pathogens.
- Occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions.
Work Environment
- Moderate to occasionally high noise levels.
