Educational Assistant II

Cumberland Valley School District is seeking an Educational Assistant (EA) II for the 2026-2027 school year, working 7.5 hours per day.

About the Role

The EA II position is tailored to the autism support program, ensuring educational strategies, support services, and student development align with the unique needs, backgrounds, and learning styles of students. The primary assignment will be in an autism support classroom, providing 1:1 support to a specific student. Priority will be given to candidates with experience supporting students with autism.

The EA plays a vital role in fostering a supportive and effective learning environment, working closely with classroom teachers and other district employees to provide instructional support, manage classroom/building activities, and assist with the implementation of educational programs.

Responsibilities

• Support the 1:1 needs of a student in an autism support classroom.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers and staff to implement educational programs.
• Assist in managing classroom and building activities.
• Provide instructional support tailored to students with cognitive, physical, and behavioral disabilities.
• Demonstrate sensitivity to students from diverse cultural backgrounds and those learning a second language.

Requirements

• High school diploma (required).
• Two-year Associate’s Degree or higher (preferred) or ability to pass a highly-qualified assessment.
• Twenty (20) hours of annual training to maintain Highly Qualified Status.
• Ability to stand, sit, bend, stretch, and lift up to 50 pounds for extended periods.
• Corrected hearing and vision within normal ranges.
• Fluency in English (required); multilingual abilities (a plus).
• Personal knowledge or work experience with school-aged children and children with disabilities (highly sought).
• Experience supporting program delivery for students with disabilities in a public school system (highly desired).

Clearances

If hired, the applicant must submit the following (all clearances must be current at time of hire):

• Criminal Record Check (less than one year old).
• PA Child Abuse History Clearance (less than one year old).
• FBI Fingerprint Clearance (less than one year old).
• TB Test/Mantoux (less than 3 months old).
• Physical examination (if applicable, less than one year old).

Pay

Starting wage: $20.10 per hour for the 2026-2027 school year.
