Education Support Paraprofessional (ESP)

30 hours per week • Base rate: $16.31 per hour

Required: Current Ohio Department of Education Monitoring Permit with ESEA Endorsement and valid FBI/BCI Background Check

Organizational Relationship

Reports to the Building Principal, Director of Special Education, or designee.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid ESEA qualification certificate/license.
• Prior experience working with children preferred.
• Additional qualifications as the Board may deem appropriate and necessary under law.

Job Goal

To provide support and assistance to special education students within the educational setting and to assist in meeting their individual educational needs.

Responsibilities

• Assist the classroom teacher with instructional activities, assignments, and classroom routines.
• Assist students with personal hygiene and cleanliness as needed.
• Work directly with individual students and/or small groups to reinforce and support material initially introduced by the teacher.
• Assist with clerical duties and the preparation of progress reports as needed.
• Attend staff meetings and conferences related to the special education needs of assigned students.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the teacher, Building Principal, Director of Special Education, or designee.
