Responsibilities
- Coordinates and provides for staff education and development including, but not limited to, orientation and ongoing training and validation.
- Provides for nursing orientation including program planning and design, implementation and evaluation.
- Maintain standards of the Nursing profession.
- Ensures that all staff is oriented and has met competency standards before beginning assignments and duties.
- Must be able to incorporate various aspects of technology into teaching strategies.
- Provides general and/or unit specific continuing education programs based on identified learning needs; responsible for design, implementation and evaluation.
- Processes class information and material to meet all requirements for Centricity.
- Serves as the coordinator for the ABN education provider program, Ensures all requirements are met and records maintained as required by the ABN for renewal.
- Develops and maintains records and reports required to document educational activities and compliance requirements.
- Captes and assists nurse leaders with annual and on-going competency assessment of staff.
- Serves as clinical site liaison for nursing schools ensuring orientation, preceptorships, clinical dates and passwords are coordinated and obtained.
- Led and/or participates on hospital committees, PI teams, work groups and community activities/professional associations as needed/requested.
- Assumes a leadership role in the development and integration of the Lippincott policies, procedures and guidelines.
- Coodinates all BLS classes within AHA guidelines.
- Serves as BLS, ACLS & PALS instructor.
- DCH Standards Maintains performance, patient and employee satisfaction and financial standards as outlined in the performance evaluation.
- Performs compliance requirements as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
- Adheres to the DCH Behavioral Standards including creating positive relationships with patients/families, coworkers, colleagues and with self.
- Requires use of electronic mail, time and attendance software, learning management software and intranet.
- Adheres to all DCH Health System policies and procedures.
- Adheres to all FMC policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- BSN in Nursing is required with a current Alabama RN license.
- A minimum of three years of hospital RN nursing experience required.
- Must be BLS, ACLS, & PALS certified or obtain within 6 months of hire date.
- Proven ability to grasp new theories and principles and evaluate and implement as appropriate.
- Excellent communication skills required.
- Computer skills required with working knowledge and basic proficiency in Microsoft Office PowerPoint, Word and Excel.
- Knowledge of Meditech documentation preferred.
- Must be able to read, write legibly, speak, and comprehend English.
