Education Safety Monitor

About the role

LEAP Academy University Charter School is seeking an Education Safety Monitor - Part-time to monitor and protect the property against criminal activity and damage.

Responsibilities

• Maintain surveillance of a property by patrolling the grounds or using closed-circuit monitoring or alarm systems after hours.
• Investigate and report signs of damage or unlawful entry as it occurs.
• Contact authorities and make written or verbal reports to law enforcement in emergency situations.
• Provide first aid or assistance and alert first responders in emergency situations.
• Acts as hallway monitor between classes to keep hallways clear.
• Aids in monitoring student lunch periods.
• Ensures uniform compliance by all students.
• Provides assistance to administrators, teachers, and staff to ensure students go to and from classes per school policy.
• Reports any incidents involving students to the Building Administrator.
• Observant, Detailed-Oriented, and Willing to engage and/or direct the students.
• Must be fully alert and aware of surroundings.
• Must be an Active Listener.
• Responds quickly to all situations.
• Sets and maintains effective working relationships with school administrators, staff, and students.
• Enforces rules and regulations.
• Wears uniform.
• Works flexible schedule to include nights, assigned holidays, and weekends.

Qualifications & Education

• Meets and maintains the New Jersey Criminal History Review.
• High School Diploma.
• Security experience with SORA Certificate or CUSPA training (preferred).
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to work positively and professionally with a variety of people.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand and communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position.
• Ability to enforce rules and regulations.
• Ability to sit, walk, stand, climb stairs.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

• Must have the ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time.
• Exhibit manual dexterity to dial a telephone, see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids.
• Hear and understand speech at normal levels, outdoors and on the telephone.
• Speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly.
• Physical agility to lift up to 25 pounds to shoulder height and 50 pounds to waist height.
• To bend, to stoop, to sit on the floor, to climb stairs, to walk and to reach overhead.

Terms of Employment

• Part-time/ $16.00/hr.
• Shift Hours: 3:00pm - 9:00pm.

Evaluation

Twice per year according to state statute and Board policy.
