About the role

The Louisiana Department of Education seeks an Education Research Analyst to lead advanced research, evaluation, and data analysis projects that influence Department initiatives, strategic planning, and policy decisions. The successful candidate will conduct quantitative and qualitative analyses to identify trends, measure program effectiveness, and support data-driven decision-making related to student achievement, educator effectiveness, school performance, and other key educational outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative analyses of student, educator, school, and program data to support education policy, strategic planning, and decision-making.
  • Use statistical software and large datasets to identify trends, evaluate outcomes, and answer research questions related to Louisiana's education system.
  • Design and conduct research studies and program evaluations to measure the effectiveness of educational initiatives and programs.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, data visualizations, and other analytical products for agency leadership, policymakers, educators, and the public.
  • Partner with teams across the Department to understand business needs, develop research questions, and provide data-driven recommendations.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor on data collection methods, research design, program evaluation, and interpretation of analytical findings.
  • Develop, maintain, and analyze large education datasets to ensure accurate, reliable, and timely information is available for decision-making.
  • Collaborate with educators, researchers, and other stakeholders to support research projects and address data and evaluation needs.
  • Present research findings and actionable recommendations to diverse audiences, including agency leadership, the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (BESE), legislators, and external partners.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A master's degree in education, statistics, mathematics, or in a data analytics, data management, information technology, or social sciences field.

Qualifications

  • Experience conducting quantitative research and statistical analyses using large, complex datasets, including data cleaning, validation, transformation, and preparation for analysis.
  • Experience applying statistical methods to evaluate programs, identify trends, measure outcomes, and support data-driven decision-making.
  • Experience analyzing education data, workforce data, or other large public-sector datasets is preferred.
  • Proficiency with statistical and data analysis software, with SPSS preferred.
  • Experience with SAS, SQL, Microsoft Access, R, Python, or similar analytical tools is also desirable.
  • Experience developing reports, visualizations, and presentations that communicate complex analytical findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Knowledge of research design, program evaluation methodologies, and educational data systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines.

Hourly: $26.32 – $40.45
Monthly: $4,561.27 – $7,011.00
Annually: $54,735.20 – $84,136.00

Schedule

Workdays are Monday - Friday; work hours will be determined.
