Your Mission in Action

The Education Coordinator oversees educational programming, supervises Education Coaches, and ensures compliance with Head Start and licensing standards. This role involves training staff, analyzing program data, monitoring classroom environments, and fostering school readiness.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and oversight to Education Coaches to ensure high-quality instructional practices and compliance with Head Start Program Performance Standards (HSPPS)
  • Plan and facilitate professional development for Education Coaches, ensuring alignment with Head Start school readiness goals and curriculum best practices
  • Analyze CLASS observations, child assessment data, and program performance metrics to drive continuous quality improvement and meet school readiness goals
  • Conduct classroom observations, review instructional materials, and collaborate with staff to create engaging, research-based learning spaces
  • Enforce all HSPPS, Child Care Licensing regulations, and organizational policies to maintain program integrity and high-quality education service
  • Enforce child safety policies, ensure positive behavior support strategies, and fulfill mandated reporter responsibilities for child abuse and neglect
  • Serve as a liaison between Education Coaches, Center Directors, Family Services Coordinators, ISD partners, and the Regional Director to align educational strategies and child outcomes
  • Provide reports on CLASS scores, teacher tiering, educational timelines, and program compliance to the Regional Director and leadership team
  • Collaborate with Family Services Coordinators to involve parents in their child's learning, ensuring alignment with the Head Start Parent, Family, and Community Engagement (PFCE) Framework
  • Guide Education Coaches and teachers in implementing research-based early childhood curricula, supporting individualized instruction to meet diverse learning needs, including children with disabilities and dual-language learners
  • Coach and support staff to ensure they have the necessary tools and resources needed to optimize performance, ensure established program goals, and achieve operational excellence
  • Communicate with direct reports in periodic one-on-one meetings
  • Organize and deliver regularly scheduled staff meetings to communicate present, ongoing, and future updates of pertinent information, projects, and initiatives
  • Work closely with management team to interview, hire, and onboard new employees who are strong cultural fits for Upbring
  • Collaborate with leadership and the People and Culture Team to arrange training; when needed, coordinate and/or provide in-service training for staff development
  • Regularly review employee performance, including goals and progress, to provide developmental feedback: use applicable agency development tools to facilitate growth and development in staff
  • Draft and issue the 90-day and annual evaluations, along with supporting documentation, as per established procedures; work in collaboration with staff to set goals during evaluation periods

Qualifications

  • Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field; two (2) years of experience in early childhood education, preferably in a Head Start or similar program; one (1) year of supervisory, coaching, or leadership experience; strong understanding of Head Start Program Performance Standards (HSPPS) and Child Care Licensing regulations; experience with school readiness goals, curriculum implementation, and child assessment tools; knowledge of inclusive practices for children with disabilities and dual-language learners; willingness to obtain CLASS certification within six (6) months of hire and T-TESS certification within one (1) year of hire; strong leadership, coaching, and team-building skills; valid Texas Driver’s license and proof of auto insurance; ability to meet Agency insurance provider guidelines as an insured and approved driver
  • Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree in early childhood education or related field; five (5) years of experience in early childhood education, with three (3) years in a leadership, coaching, or supervisory role; CLASS and T-TESS certification; bilingual education expertise; Texas Teaching Certificate EC-4 and Early Childhood Endorsement; background in Special Education/Inclusion Training in Practice-Based Coaching

Physical Demands & Work Conditions

  • Frequent walking, standing, and sitting during site visits, classroom observations, and meetings
  • Ability to move around classrooms and interact with children and staff
  • Use of hands and fingers for computer work, note-taking, and operation of office equipment
  • Lift, push, pull, move up to 50 lbs
  • Travel to multiple sites and driving between centers
  • Adherence to health and safety protocols
  • Flexibility is needed to accommodate travel requirements and the evolving needs of the program
