EDUCATION ASSISTANT - ASES/ELOP SITE LEADER (2332)
About the role
Provides age and developmentally appropriate activities and assistance in instructional and/or recreation activities for students for the After School Education and Safety (ASES) Program under grant funding and the Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELOP) with the Child Development and Child Care (CDCC) Department.
Responsibilities
- Supervises and monitors students to ensure their physical safety and social emotional growth;
- Establishes and maintains a positive learning environment;
- Develops and strengthens students' academic and social development;
- Works as part of the site team to design and implement age appropriate after school enrichment activities;
- Utilizes curricular programs and resources as provided by the CDCC Department;
- Follows established procedures when reporting unusual situations and/or incidents;
- Manages program components and provides daily supervision of site-based personnel;
- Displays a positive attitude toward the program, students, parents/guardians, and other school staff;
- Maintains a successful program by planning, organizing, and implementing events such as Family Nights and field trips;
- Attends and participates in ASES/ELOP and other required meetings; special events and, trainings as required;
- Selects a variety of activities appropriate and of interest to students of various age groups;
- Affords students opportunities to develop and strengthen their academic skills, and encourages participation in enrichment activities;
- Assists with ASES/ELOP enrollment; maintains and updates attendance forms;
- Ensures that ASES/ELOP staff sign-in sheets and children’s sign-in sheets are complete for Head Teacher and may be required to deliver to the CDCC office;
- Reviews attendance records, collects attendance data, and maintains files (including behavior notifications).
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent;
- One year of experience working with students in a school setting or recent volunteer experience in a similar program.
Qualifications
Desirable Written and oral proficiency in a second language.
Skills
Ability to work as part of a team, strong communication skills, ability to manage multiple tasks, and knowledge of child development and safety protocols.

Schedule
Work shifts are primarily during the hours of 11:40 a.m. to 6:10 p.m. Assignments may be in any part of the district boundaries (Glendale, La Crescenta, or Montrose).
