About the role
The Education AmeriCorps member supports newly arrived youth and young adults in achieving their personal, educational, and career goals. This role reports to the Youth Programs Supervisor.
Responsibilities
- Aid in planning, coordinating, and leading activities like after-school sessions, workshops, tutoring, and job shadowing.
- Document attendance and program information.
- Provide transportation to participants for group activities.
- Assess family and youth needs and assist with orientations, intakes, and school enrollments.
- Recruit and screen potential mentors and facilitate matches with youth.
- Provide follow-up support to clients and mentors.
- Research and provide career pathway information.
- Enroll participants in preschool, GED, training programs, and enrichment activities.
- Participate in all program meetings and development activities.
- Assist Youth Program staff with data entry and scheduling meetings.
Requirements
- Demonstrated interest in education, working with youth, or social work.
- Strong communication skills, fluency in English, and bilingual ability in a local language preferred.
- Experience working in a multicultural environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- US citizenship or legal permanent resident status.
- At least 18 years old.
- High school diploma or equivalent, or enrolled in a high school diploma or GED program.
- Pass a National Service Criminal History check.
Compensation
(Pay Rate: $25,200/yr)
