About the Role
This position assists the Registered Nurse (RN) and physician with assessments, examinations, and treatments. It performs a variety of technical and patient care duties under RN supervision and fulfills essential functions of the Unit Secretary.
Responsibilities
- Assists the Registered Nurse (RN) and physician with assessments, examinations, and treatments.
- Documents patient care performed, including vital signs, bedside care, and observations.
- Maintains state of readiness by ensuring equipment and supplies are appropriate for the position.
- Supports cost containment through appropriate ordering and conserving of supplies and equipment.
- Prioritizes patient care and department needs, sets goals, and organizes time to meet daily nursing care demands.
- Observes, documents, and reports patient condition and changes to the RN, MD, or provider.
- Provides patient and family education within scope of practice.
- Records and collects specimens.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Education/GED or equivalent: Required
- Associate's/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved vendor per Adventist Health policy: Required
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), National Emergency Medical Technician (NEMT), or Paramedic (PM) certification: Required
- Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Certification: Preferred
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Medical Assistant (CMA), or Paramedic certification: Preferred
- Phlebotomist Technician license: Preferred
Pay
The estimated base pay for this position is $25.00 to $31.84 per hour. Additional individual compensation may be available through differentials, extra shift incentives, bonuses, etc. Base pay is only a portion of the total rewards package, and a comprehensive benefits program is available for qualifying positions.
