About the role

As part of the unit-based team, this position is responsible for providing direct and indirect care to patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department. In addition to providing clinical care for patients, this position also rotates to oversee the patients and families in the ED waiting area; providing assistance to patients upon arrival, assisting the triage RN in identifying medical necessity, supporting and providing information to patients, families, and staff.

Responsibilities

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to communicate clearly with patients, guests, and co-workers in English both verbally and in writing.
• Exceptional people skills and an ability to function in a calm manner in stressful situations.
• Ability to adapt, prioritize, and function in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment.

Qualifications

• National Registered Paramedic - National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians, OR
• Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) - National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians, OR
• Proof of current completion of 2 semesters in an accredited Registered Nursing Program.
• Basic Lifesaving Certification - American Heart Association.

Ages of Patients Served

This position is responsible for the care of neonate, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.

Pay

$38.49 - $48.66 USD Hourly

Physical Requirements

• Medium Work - Requires standing the majority of the shift with the ability to lift up to 35 lbs. frequently.
• Work involves sitting, kneeling, climbing, and squatting.
