Norfolk, VA – Full-time (36 hours per week), 3rd shift (3:00 PM – 3:00 AM)

About the role

Assists the Physician, Advanced Practitioner, or Nurse in implementing plans of care for emergency/minor emergency care patients. Performs patient procedures and treatments under the supervision of the Physician, Advanced Practitioner, or Nurse.

De-escalation and physical intervention training within 15 days of hire. BLS certification within 90 days of hire for all incumbents.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • New incumbents must also meet one of the following:
    • EMT-B with state or national certification at time of hire
    • Successful completion of US Military Hospital Corps School, qualified MMAC candidates
    • Current student enrolled in clinical program (e.g., RN, LPN, Respiratory, Physical Therapy) having completed at least one semester within the program
  • Candidates with prior employment in the Sentara ED tech job code in the past two years will also be considered in lieu of the above criteria
  • Previous clinical experience

About the facility

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, located in Norfolk, VA, is a 525-bed tertiary care facility that is home to the only Level I Adult Trauma Center and burn trauma unit in Hampton Roads, and also serves as the primary teaching hospital for Eastern Virginia Medical School. The hospital specializes in heart and vascular, neurosciences, neurosurgery, urology, oncology, spine care, advanced imaging, behavioral health, maternity, and women’s health, including a state-of-the-art neonatal intensive care unit.
