About the Role
The Emergency Department (ED) Tech Level I is a multi-skilled caregiver who supports registered nurses by providing safe, age-appropriate patient care and technical procedures.
Responsibilities
- Perform vital signs, 12-lead EKG, blood sugar testing, wound care, oral suctioning, splinting, and patient instruction.
- Execute procedures using aseptic techniques, including catheterization, dressing changes, and phlebotomy.
- Operate cardiac monitors, pulse oximetry, and specialty equipment; monitor patients in restraint/seclusion; and ensure proper stocking of supplies.
- Transport patients, supplies, equipment, and medications safely.
- Manage telesitter carts and respond to remote escalation for face-to-face intervention.
- Monitor cardiac rhythms, recognize arrhythmias, and communicate findings to the healthcare team.
- Maintain a safe environment through environmental rounds and adherence to safety guidelines.
- Perform other duties to support patient care and comply with hospital policies.
Qualifications & Skills
- High School diploma or GED.
- Current BLS certification required.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with computers.
- Team-oriented and capable of manual vital sign measurement.
