About the Role
The ED Tech Level I is a multi-skilled caregiver supporting Registered Nurses by providing safe, age-appropriate patient care and technical procedures in the Emergency Department.
Responsibilities
- Obtain and document vital signs
- Perform 12-lead EKGs and bedside blood sugar testing
- Provide superficial wound care, oral suctioning, and splint application
- Instruct patients on safe ambulation with crutches
- Operate cardiac and pulse oximetry monitors
- Transport patients, supplies, and medications
- Ensure patient areas are stocked
- Monitor patients in restraint/seclusion
- Perform aseptic procedures, including urethral catheterization, sterile tray preparation, dressing changes, and phlebotomy
- Manage telesitter carts, troubleshoot connectivity, and respond to escalation needs
- Recognize and communicate arrhythmias
- Maintain equipment and ensure compliance with safety and policy standards
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- BLS certification
- Effective communication skills
- Computer proficiency
- Team-oriented mindset
- Skilled in vital sign measurement
- Demonstrated initiative and collaboration to support patient care and safety
