Join the Emergency Department team at Garnet Health Medical Center-Middletown as an ED Technician. This position provides direct patient care to a specific group of patients under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse within the Hudson Valley’s leading integrated health system.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
• Assists with toileting, including bedpans, commodes, urinals, and incontinence care.
• Performs proper body mechanics for transfers and ambulation.
• Takes and records vital signs.
• Performs phlebotomy duties.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients, visitors, and staff both orally and in writing.
• Previous experience as a Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, or similar role.
• Completion of a phlebotomy course with at least 120 hours of clinical rotation in a medical arena, OR 75 hours of clinical rotation with one (1) year of healthcare experience, OR five (5) years of continuous phlebotomy experience, OR graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant Program.
• National Phlebotomy Certification required within 6 months or National Medical Assistant certification required within 6 months.
• Completion of AHA - BLS Healthcare Provider Course (current and ongoing).
• Successful completion of Orientation program including classroom and clinical components.
• Must attend hospital crisis training program within 3 months of hire or transfer and annually thereafter.

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged, extensive, or considerable standing/walking.
• Lifts, positions, pushes, and/or transfers patients.
• Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching.
• Visual acuity and color discrimination.
• Ability to communicate effectively and comprehend conversation.
• Manual dexterity and hand-to-eye coordination.
• Must anticipate unexpected movements by patients.
• Capable of working assigned hours at varied times during the day or night.
• Alertness required during all phases of work.
• Demonstrates physical and functional ability to perform full anatomical range of motion.
• Evidence of visual and aural acuity and finger and hand dexterity to operate computer and office equipment.
• Can withstand long periods of sitting, standing, and/or constant walking.
• Ability to lift 10 lbs.

Pay

The hourly range for this role is $29.06 - $36.64. The range provided complies with New York State law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements and does not include bonuses, incentive pay, differential pay, or other forms of compensation or benefits. Several factors may be considered when determining compensation, including location, specialty, service line, years of relevant experience, education, credentials, negotiated contracts, budget, and internal equity.
