About the role
The ECMO specialist participates in developing and executing patient treatment plans involving assessment, planning, implementation, and education. They collaborate with physicians and healthcare team members to interpret, adjust, and complete ECMO patient care.
Responsibilities
- Assess and plan ECMO treatments based on patient needs
- Communicate effectively with medical staff to interpret and modify treatment plans
- Provide education to patients and staff about ECMO procedures and care
- Participate in the development of treatment strategies and protocols
- Ensure compliance with clinical standards and safety protocols
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and completion of ECMO training or formal education in Extra Corporeal Circulation
- Licenses: Registered Nursing License (Texas), Respiratory Therapist License (NBRC), or Certified Perfusion License
- Certifications: BLS and ACLS through American Heart Association
- Minimum of 2 years of critical care experience
