About the role
The ECMO Specialist position is a licensed Registered Nurse (RN), who is an experienced clinician who provides skilled operation of the extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) equipment at the bedside in the ICU environment. Provides care for the patient undergoing ECMO support to assure high quality patient and family centered care.
Responsibilities
- Operate ECMO equipment at the bedside in the ICU environment
- Provide care for patients undergoing ECMO support
Qualifications
- Graduate from an accredited RN program
- Minimum of 1 year of RN experience in an acute critical care setting
- ECMO experience preferred
- Thorough understanding of extracorporeal physiology, patient selection, disease processes, and management
- Emergency troubleshooting skills
- Completion of a preceptorship
- Current Healthcare CPR and ACLS certification
- Current on education provided by the ECMO Coordinator
