ECLIPSE Child & Family Support Partner

Position Summary: The Child & Family Support Partner (CFSP) reports to the ECLIPSE Program Manager and is an experienced early childhood professional with training in mental health embedded in ECEAP programs to enhance and advance early relational health practices. The CFSP provides direct services (consultation and intervention) with families of children three to five years old as well as capacity‑building activities (consultation, professional development, and program development) with multidisciplinary teams in ECEAP programs.

Direct Support to Individual Families

  • Meet with families (at childcare, home, community, or virtually) to assess child and family needs and co‑create or assess progress of care plans.
  • Provide consultation, psychoeducation, and intervention services to caregivers and young children (ages 3‑5) through a relational lens, enhancing caregivers’ understanding of social‑emotional development, needs, and behaviors.
  • Partner with families to set developmentally and culturally responsive goals and co‑create and implement care plans.
  • Work collaboratively with caregivers and children to strengthen connection, communication, and mutual delight.
  • Maintain strong communication with the care team, documenting sessions in a secure electronic record.
  • Facilitate connections to external mental health services when needed.

Care Transformation and Capacity Building

  • Provide reflection and consultation to classroom educators to build capacity for early relational health practices in ECEAP settings throughout the Puget Sound Region.
  • Develop and implement programs that holistically support children ages 3‑5, such as transition plans to kindergarten, culturally accessible screening for postpartum anxiety and depression, and community‑based referral connections.
  • Provide intensive case management using a team‑based approach to help clients meet basic and safety needs, develop life skills, address health and mental health needs, engage in meaningful activities, and build pro‑social and community relationships.
  • Guide socio‑emotional, protective, and risk‑factor screening processes for children ages 3‑5.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of early childhood and infant mental health community‑based organizations and share resources with care team members to facilitate family connections.

Administrative and Professional Development

  • Participate in regular reflective supervision and clinical consultation with IECMH colleagues, clinical support meetings, and Akin team meetings.
  • Record data relevant to program evaluation and funding requirements.
  • Assist with other duties related to program goals and evaluation in collaboration with the Akin ECLIPSE team.
  • Engage in ongoing job‑related professional development, in‑service training, and continuing education.
  • Comply with all Akin policies and procedures, including the agency’s policy on identification and reporting of child abuse.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of child and family development and various treatment principles, strategies, and interventions.
  • Ability to develop strength‑based, goal‑oriented care plans guided by an infant/early childhood mental health framework.
  • Ability to foster positive relationships with caregivers using inquiry‑based communication and motivational interviewing.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with children, families, ECEAP educators, support staff, and Akin staff.
  • Strengths‑based approach to supporting caregivers of young children, especially those underserved by current systems.
  • Outstanding organizational skills and capacity to manage a caseload of multiple families.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Technological proficiency sufficient to use electronic medical records and other systems for visit notes, data collection, and client progress tracking.
  • Familiarity with or interest in accessibility, inclusion, and belonging principles; experience working with diverse backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated openness to learning and contributing to an inclusive workplace environment.
  • Flexibility, responsiveness, and collaborative spirit to shape and adapt this pilot program.

Working Environment

This job is performed in childcare/preschool settings within King and Pierce County. The environment includes moderate noise (classroom activities, office printers, phones), typical office lighting and temperatures, moderate interruptions, confined work areas, and extended periods of computer use. Travel to site locations is regular. Hybrid work arrangements are available but may be adjusted or rescinded based on business needs.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands/fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard.
  • Occasionally required to reach, stoop, and kneel.
  • Close vision required for computer work.
  • Regular, predictable attendance is required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Special Education, or a related human services field with expertise in Infant/Early Childhood Mental Health.
  • Five years of experience in early childhood, special education, IECMH, behavioral health, and/or family support systems.
  • One‑step Mantoux TB skin test prior to start (or written proof of a negative test within the past 12 months). If previously positive, documented proof of treatment or a negative chest X‑ray is required.
  • Proof of MMR vaccine or positive MMR titer.
  • Completion of Akin and DCYF criminal history background check, including MERIT fingerprinting.
  • Valid driver’s license and favorable driving record (no more than three violations in the past three years).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Special Education, or a related human services field with expertise in Infant/Early Childhood Mental Health.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Infant Mental Health endorsement or interest in obtaining one.
  • Experience with Promoting First Relationships (PFR), Circle of Security Facilitator, or similar programs.
  • Experience working in an ECEAP/preschool setting.
  • Experience providing reflective consultation and/or training with direct‑service professionals.

Salary Range and Benefits

We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive pay, medical, dental, retirement benefits, and paid time off. The target starting pay is $28.74 – $34.48 per hour for candidates with a Bachelor’s degree and $32.28 – $38.74 per hour for those with a Master’s degree, typically within the first half of the range. Actual offers are based on individual qualifications and do not consider pay history. The range allows room for growth during tenure.
