East Bay Division Editor

About the role

The Embarcadero Media Foundation seeks a dynamic and experienced editor to lead the East Bay Division, which includes LivermoreVine.com, DanvilleSanRamon.com, and the Pleasanton Weekly. Reporting to the Editorial Director, the editor will manage a team of reporters, freelancers, and interns to produce a daily Express newsletter and support the publication of the weekly newspaper.

Responsibilities

• Manage a team of reporters, freelancers, and interns to produce a daily Express newsletter for each site.
• Support the publication of the weekly newspaper under the direction of the Editorial Director.
• Participate in weekly management meetings to plot the course of the organization.
• Ensure the delivery of accurate, fair, contextual, and engaging journalism to serve the community.
• Represent the news brands in the community and attend relevant events.

Requirements

• At least 3-5 years of experience in daily journalism.
• Bachelor's degree or higher in journalism or related field.
• Knowledge of Google, Adobe, and Microsoft tools.
• Familiarity with WordPress platform.
• Understanding of issues in the Tri-Valley, Alameda County, and Contra Costa County.

Qualifications

• Fluent in AP Style.
• Available for full-time work from 8-to-5 weekdays with some night and weekend work.
• Apart from the Pleasanton office, the position is flexible and can be worked remotely.
