East Bay Division Editor

About the role

The Embarcadero Media Foundation seeks a dynamic and experienced editor to lead the East Bay Division, including LivermoreVine.com, DanvilleSanRamon.com, and the Pleasanton Weekly. Reporting to the Editorial Director, the editor will manage a team of reporters, freelancers, and interns to produce daily newsletters and support the publication of the weekly newspaper.

Responsibilities

• Manage a team of reporters, freelancers, and interns to produce daily newsletters for LivermoreVine.com, DanvilleSanRamon.com, and the Pleasanton Weekly.
• Support the publication of the weekly newspaper under the direction of the Editorial Director.
• Attend weekly management meetings to discuss strategy and ensure the East Bay Division aligns with broader organizational goals.
• Represent the organization at community events and serve as a face for the news brands in the Tri-Valley, Alameda County, and Contra Costa County.
• Work a flexible schedule that includes occasional nights and weekends to cover breaking news.

Requirements

• At least 3-5 years of experience in daily journalism.
• Bachelor's degree or higher in journalism or a related field.
• Familiarity with Google, Adobe, and Microsoft tools.
• Experience with WordPress platform.
• Understanding of local issues in the Tri-Valley, Alameda County, and Contra Costa County.

Qualifications

• Fluent in AP Style.
• Sharp line editing skills.
• Available for full-time work from 8-to-5 weekdays with some flexibility needed for night and weekend work.
