About the role

The Community team at Yelp works in markets across the United States and Canada to highlight the best local businesses. Through events, partnerships, and social media, the team builds relationships with small business owners and showcases the unique aspects of these establishments. This internship offers a 6-month development program where interns can gain hands-on experience in social media management, event planning, and online community building.

Responsibilities

  • Work with your Community Manager to understand your market and prioritize messaging
  • Help plan and execute events such as remarkable parties, local meet-ups, and happy hours
  • Create and organize social media content that aligns with regional goals and engages users
  • Maintain Yelp’s local online business listings by flagging photos, identifying media alerts, and ensuring accuracy
  • Engage with Yelpers through the app and website in various ways to build excitement about local happenings

Requirements

  • Current college student, recent college graduate, or someone interested in a community building role
  • Reside in Oakland, CA with reliable transportation
  • At least 21 years old
  • Considered a local expert with knowledge of trends in the area and passion for small businesses
  • Experience and interest in event planning and coordination
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Well-organized and detail-oriented
  • Experience with social media copywriting and asset coordination
  • Flexible to work 10-19 hours per week, Monday through Friday with potential weekend work
  • Able to lift up to 10 pounds without assistance

Pay
