Early Intervention Specialist (SEIT)

About the role

Under general supervision, an incumbent serves as an Early Intervention Official Designee and as a Special Education Itinerant Teacher (SEIT) delivering special education programs and services for pre-school children with special needs pursuant to Article 25, Title IIA of the Public Health Law, which relates to services for children from birth to age 3, and/or Section 4410 of the Education Law, which relates to services for children ages 3 to 5.

Responsibilities

• The incumbent participates in meetings for the Committee on Preschool Special Education (CPSE) process and assists in the planning for Individualized Education Program implementation.
• Work is performed with considerable independence with which an incumbent represents the Department of Health providing guidance and technical support to parents, case managers, service providers and school officials.
• Does related work as required.
