About the role
The Early Education Center at UC Santa Cruz is opening soon, offering multiple career positions including Assistant Teacher and Lead Teacher for infants, toddlers, and twos. The center provides a beautiful campus setting with separate play yards, low teacher-to-child ratios, and dedicated areas for staff.
Responsibilities
- Assume responsibility for the general supervision and safety of all children in attendance, including compliance with licensing requirements and regulations.
- Maintain a clean and organized environment inside and outside the facility.
- Plan and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum in collaboration with Desired Results Assessments.
- Communicate regularly with families to inform them of their child's day and center activities.
- Facilitate children's transitions between home and center, and encourage family involvement.
- Participate in staff meetings and professional development activities.
- Give direction to Student Assistant Teachers and assist in their training.
Requirements
- Valid Child Development Associate Teacher Permit or higher.
- Current negative TB test.
- Clear pre-employment background check.
- Ability to fill out forms and write reports concerning children's behavior and health.
- Sufficient word processing and computer skills.
- Ability to move materials weighing up to 25 lbs.
Qualifications
- Experience with infant, toddler, and preschool developmental needs.
- Knowledge of current quality practices in early childhood education.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and work with diverse groups of children and adults.

Budgeted Salary: $28.90/hourly
Schedule
Full-time, fixed percentage of time: 100%, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday.
