Early College Instructors

Credentials

This position is for high school instructors interested in teaching dual credit classes for Northeast Community College.

• Transfer Faculty

  Faculty teaching courses intended for transfer to four-year institutions will hold a minimum of a master’s degree which includes substantial study appropriate to the academic field in which they are teaching (typically a minimum of 18 semester hours of graduate credit).

• General Education Faculty

  Faculty teaching general education courses intended for transfer to four-year institutions will hold the same minimum credentials as all transfer faculty. Faculty teaching general education courses not intended for transfer will hold a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in the subject area, or a master’s degree with significant course work at the undergraduate and/or graduate level (typically a minimum of 18 semester hours of credit), with experience appropriate to the subject area.

• Career and Technical Faculty

  Career and technical faculty will hold a bachelor’s degree, or associate degree and a combination of licensure and/or certification in the field equating to a bachelor’s degree, in addition to a minimum of five years of related work experience.

• Academic Support Faculty

  Faculty teaching academic support courses will hold a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in the subject area, or a master’s degree with significant course work at the undergraduate and/or graduate level (typically a minimum of 18 semester hours of credit), with experience appropriate to the subject area.

• Short-term Skills Based Classes

  Faculty teaching courses intended to prepare students for skills-based training or a certification test and not meeting a degree requirement will have successfully completed the training necessary to teach such skills and certification/licensure if required or have three years of related experience.
