Early Career Civil Engineer (Generation)
About the role
The candidate will be involved in projects with our Power Generation Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.
Responsibilities
- Develop site layout, grading, storm water management, vehicular circulation, underground utilities, retaining walls, erosion control, and wastewater management design
- Earthwork and Erosion Control Calculations to avoid unnecessary environmental impact and cost
- Hydrology and Hydraulic Calculations and Studies to design stormwater management systems including detention and infiltration systems to prevent environmental impacts of flooding
- Interface with State and Local permitting agencies and construction entities for US and international projects
- Complete training on assigned tasks
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, or closely related discipline
- 0 to 1 years of relevant post education experience
- Excellent research skills with analytical mindset
- Familiarity with relevant civil construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements
- Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience
- Proficient self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment
- Able to work independently under general supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives
- Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools
- Experience using the Microsoft Office software suite
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
- Able to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek
- Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements
Qualifications
- Engineer in Training Certification
- Consulting Engineering experience
- Site development design experience: municipal infrastructure, storm drainage and stormwater management design, site grading, roadway and utility design, sanitary sewer design and analysis, construction specification development and development of construction bid packages
Skills
- Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools
- Experience using the Microsoft Office software suite
