About the role

The Emergency Services Department seeks an experienced individual to oversee daily activities and operations of an assigned shift. The role involves managing staff schedules, conducting roll call, reviewing daily reports, and ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts roll call; runs/reviews daily reports; monitors calls for compliance with policies and procedures;
  • Coordinates and evaluates timely receipt, dispatch, and completion of emergency aid requests;
  • Processes complaints or issues commendations (Star Card); coaches/counsels staff;
  • Assists employees when officers are in pursuit; notifies Field Supervisors as necessary;
  • Adheres to rules and regulations governing FCC; ensures security guidelines are met pertaining to the Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC)/National Crime Information Center (NCIC).

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required, including five (5) years of Public Safety Emergency Dispatch experience to include two (2) years of supervisory experience or four (4) years of experience working as an E911 Communications Officer and released from all radio disciplines;
  • Must possess and maintain Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Certification (3);
  • Must attain Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC)/National Crime Information Center (NCIC) Certification, Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) Certification, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification, and National Incident Management System (NIMS) courses within one year of employment and maintain during employment;
  • Completes APCO Communications Center Supervisor within six months of promotion and APCO Registered Public-Safety Leader (RPL) within two years of promotion/employment.

Qualifications

  • Proficient in typing at a speed of not less than 25 net words per minute;
  • Works within a 24-hour, seven (7) days a week operation and performs shift work as required, including working holidays and weekends.

Special Requirements

  • Agree to and successfully pass a background investigation, skills assessment, psychological evaluation, physical/drug screening, and polygraph;
  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age;
  • Must conform to the qualifications as required by the Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Act.
