This position serves as a Beverage Bartender (primary) and may also fill the Beverage Shift Manager role (secondary) when needed.

About the Role

The Beverage Bartender provides friendly, excellent service to every customer at the bar, preparing and pouring drinks with proper portions and ingredients. The secondary role of Beverage Shift Manager involves overseeing all aspects of the SARC Beverage department's administration and daily operations, ensuring compliance with Seneca Gaming Corporation’s policies, procedures, and Internal Control Standards.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare drinks with proper portions and ingredients.
  • Mix drinks and collect payment from guests.
  • Count bank at the beginning and end of each shift, completing necessary paperwork.
  • Take beverage orders from customers, requiring clear communication in English.
  • Clean bar area, including wiping down surfaces and picking up trash.
  • Restock supplies during slow periods, involving lifting, bending, and reaching.
  • Lift bar top (approximately 15 pounds) and work within a narrow space (~4.5 ft. wide behind the bar).
  • Address guests with a pleasant nature and provide directions as needed.
  • Maintain a current understanding of information security policies and comply with them at all times.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and maintain a professional work environment.
  • Adhere to attendance guidelines, regulatory, departmental, and company policies.
  • Complete all required SGC training programs within nine months of employment.
  • Attend necessary meetings.

Secondary Position Duties (Beverage Shift Manager)

  • Manage and supervise all Beverage operations and employees in the absence of the Beverage Manager.
  • Handle administrative duties such as scheduling, payroll, hiring, training, and HR issues.
  • Ensure proper staffing levels and work schedules to maintain high service levels with minimum labor hours.
  • Evaluate staff performance on a 90-day and annual basis.
  • Conduct regular cover count, check average, food and beverage cost, and projection analysis to maximize profitability.
  • Implement Food and Beverage Procedures and operate multi-unit operations.
  • Assist with hiring, training, recognition, coaching, terminations, and other personnel-related issues.
  • Communicate regularly with the Food & Beverage Management team and employees about casino activities and events.
  • Advise the Beverage & Remote Outlet Manager of daily problems and needs to maximize profits.
  • Adhere to safety and sanitation guidelines, including Serve Safe, Seneca Nation Health codes, and Risk Management policies.
  • Ensure compliance with TIPS Certification, Alcohol Awareness policy, and liquor laws.
  • Settle disputes with customers, employees, and supervisors.
  • Cooperate with the Seneca Gaming Authority to ensure compliance with all rules and regulations.

Requirements

  • Demonstrate leadership, fairness, and sensibility to customers and employees.
  • Ability to instill pride and personal responsibility in subordinate employees.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Four years of experience, with two years in food and beverage; supervisory/management experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of all phases of full-service dining.
  • Excellent interpersonal, customer service, communication, coaching, team-building, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to interact well with customers and employees.
  • Ability to resolve problems/conflicts diplomatically and tactfully.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

  • Must be able to stand, walk, and move through all areas of the Food and Beverage department and Casino for long periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
  • Work in a narrow space (~4.5 ft. wide) behind the bar, including lifting the bar top (~15 pounds).
  • Maintain physical stamina and proper mental attitude to work under pressure in a fast-paced, casino environment.
  • Work in a moderately loud environment where smoking is permitted.

Pay

Starting rate: $10.70 per hour. Compensation is negotiable based on experience and education.
