Dual Credit Adjunct Faculty - Criminal Justice

Adjunct Faculty refers to an educator hired to teach on a course-by-course basis throughout an academic year.

Responsibilities

  • Teach up to seven semester credit hours (up to two courses) within the discipline of Criminal Justice. Instruction will be delivered in a face-to-face manner at the 8750 Central Expwy, Dallas site location, during the day, Monday/Wednesday, or a Tuesday/Thursday schedule.
  • Develop and manage the class syllabus and ensure that it meets department and college standards.
  • Plan and create lectures, in-class discussions, and assignments.
  • Assess grades for students based on participation, performance in class, assignments, and examinations.
  • Assist/mentor students as needed.
  • Communicate with parents & guardians of students in the Dallas ISD’s Dual Credit P-Tech program in Criminal Justice.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate hours in the field is required to teach undergraduate courses OR a terminal degree in the field of Criminal Justice is required.
  • Demonstrated expertise in the subject area.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current relevant professional credentials.
  • High School, College, or University teaching experience.
  • Evidence of teaching excellence.
  • Prior relevant industry experience.
  • Bi-lingual (English-Spanish).
