Adjunct Faculty refers to an educator hired to teach on a course-by-course basis throughout an academic year.
Responsibilities
- Teach up to seven semester credit hours (up to two courses) within the discipline of Criminal Justice. Instruction will be delivered in a face-to-face manner at the 8750 Central Expwy, Dallas site location, during the day, Monday/Wednesday, or a Tuesday/Thursday schedule.
- Develop and manage the class syllabus and ensure that it meets department and college standards.
- Plan and create lectures, in-class discussions, and assignments.
- Assess grades for students based on participation, performance in class, assignments, and examinations.
- Assist/mentor students as needed.
- Communicate with parents & guardians of students in the Dallas ISD’s Dual Credit P-Tech program in Criminal Justice.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate hours in the field is required to teach undergraduate courses OR a terminal degree in the field of Criminal Justice is required.
- Demonstrated expertise in the subject area.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current relevant professional credentials.
- High School, College, or University teaching experience.
- Evidence of teaching excellence.
- Prior relevant industry experience.
- Bi-lingual (English-Spanish).
