The Dual Credit Adjunct Faculty at Texas Southmost College are professional educators responsible for fulfilling the College's mission, vision, values, and goals of providing a quality education for all students. They work on a limited basis and are accountable to the College’s policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Strive for continual improvement of student success by planning an optimal learning environment, providing high-quality instruction, and engaging in professional development.
- Manage learning environments by ensuring accurate syllabi, maintaining attendance records, submitting grades, and providing feedback.
- Deliver effective instruction by developing rigorous curricula, considering individual student differences, and using the College’s digital learning solution.
- Enhance the student’s learning experience by integrating real-life situations, promoting critical thinking, interdisciplinary skills, and teamwork.
- Collaborate with colleagues to construct and continuously improve measurable learning outcomes aligned with THECB core curriculum objectives and TSC’s objectives.
- Assess student learning by designing assessments, sequencing learning opportunities, and aligning assessments with learning objectives.
- Promote continual improvement by developing and revising curriculum as needed and using defined student learning outcomes to plan and evaluate teaching activities.
- Support TSC’s institutional effectiveness program by preparing and evaluating Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs), completing performance evaluation measures, and sharing best practices.
- Support learning through student engagement by creating a positive classroom atmosphere, encouraging active and collaborative learning, and supporting learners.
- Maintain a learning-centered environment by being available to students and referring them to appropriate support services.
- Pursue professional development by taking graduate courses, attending internal classes, and maintaining required professional credentials and continuing education hours.
- Participate in discipline-specific activities and promote positive morale and teamwork within the functional unit.
- Handle sensitive and extensive confidential information.
- Attend the workplace regularly, report to work punctually, and follow a work schedule to meet demands.
- Complete required training and professional development sessions.
- Promote the College’s values and institutional goals as defined in the Strategic Plan.
- Aid in systematic review and evaluation of the planning unit, including the development and monitoring of outcomes and plans of action for improvement.
Requirements
The successful candidate should hold a bachelor’s degree in their field of expertise and possess a valid teaching certificate. Experience in higher education and a strong commitment to student success are preferred.
