About the role

The Dual Credit Adjunct Faculty at Texas Southmost College are professional educators responsible for fulfilling the College's mission, vision, values, and goals. They lead, teach, advise, and facilitate learning for students enrolled at the College.

Responsibilities

  • Strive for continual improvement of student success through optimal learning environments, high-quality instruction, and professional development.
  • Maintain accurate syllabi, attendance records, submit grades, provide feedback, and conduct classes according to the meeting schedule.
  • Develop curriculum in collaboration with College policies and procedures, considering individual student differences, and integrating real-life situations into learning experiences.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to construct and improve measurable learning outcomes, including THECB core curriculum objectives and TSC objectives.
  • Assess student learning through assessments, aligning them with learning opportunities, and using defined student learning outcomes to plan and evaluate teaching activities.
  • Promote continual improvement by developing and revising curriculum as needed and supporting TSC’s institutional effectiveness program.
  • Create a positive classroom atmosphere encouraging active and collaborative learning, academic challenge, and support for learners.
  • Maintain confidentiality and availability to students during the designated work period.
  • Support student learning by referring them to appropriate student and academic support services.
  • Pursue professional development by taking graduate courses, attending training sessions, and maintaining required credentials and continuing education hours.
  • Participate in discipline-specific activities and promote positive morale and teamwork within the functional unit.
  • Handle sensitive and extensive confidential information and report to work punctually following a work schedule.
  • Complete all required training and professional development sessions sponsored by Texas Southmost College.
  • Support the College’s values and institutional goals as defined in the Strategic Plan.
  • Assist with systematic review and evaluation of the planning unit, including the development and monitoring of outcomes and plans of action for improvement.

Requirements

The successful candidate must hold a bachelor’s degree in a related field and possess a valid Texas teaching certificate. Experience teaching dual credit courses is preferred but not required. Proficiency in using the College’s digital learning solution is necessary.

Qualifications

Qualified candidates should demonstrate strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. They must also be able to manage multiple tasks and adapt to a high-tech, all-digital learning environment.

Skills
