DSW Associate Store Manager
About the role
Supports and performs customer service, merchandising, omni activities, and all inventory-related actions alongside store management to drive sales and results. Partners with the management team to understand daily, weekly, and monthly store priorities and participates in merchandise placement, fulfillment, and store recovery.
Responsibilities
- Empower and personalize the customer experience by modeling Customer Experience Leader (CEL) behaviors and coaching associates to achieve store goals and KPIs.
- Respond to customer and associate requests with urgency and ensure a positive experience by maintaining DSW store standards.
- Complete daily open/close tasks, including store cleaning, recovery, and maintenance.
- Review and communicate action plans to ensure all tasks are completed throughout the day, week, and month.
- Improve metric-based goals by reviewing and communicating daily, weekly, and monthly progress.
- Increase sales by leveraging inventory reports to maximize productivity and merchandise presentations.
- Execute processes related to audits, donations, transfers, mismates, and damages.
- Set clear expectations and follow up on inventory-related activities, including freight receipt, product placement, markdowns, and mark out of stock (MOOS).
- Set clear expectations and follow up on omni activities, including Charge/Send and Buy Online Pick Up In Store (BOPIS).
- Collect and submit supply needs to ensure successful store operations.
- Ensure a safe environment for customers and associates, including maintaining equipment in good operating condition.
- Equip associates to resolve customer concerns and escalate issues to the Store Manager when necessary.
- Support the Store Manager with associate timekeeping activities, including scheduling, forecasting, and payroll management.
- Assist in resolving associate relations matters and provide feedback on associate performance.
- Recognize and support the store team through training, coaching, feedback, and motivation.
- Assist in recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding Store Associate candidates.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Store Manager and/or Co-Manager.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of management experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent; some college preferred.
- Excellent customer service skills, exhibiting professionalism, positivity, and enthusiasm.
- Ability to develop collaborative working relationships.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work at a fast pace and hold the team accountable for time-bound expectations.
- Must be available to meet business needs, including nights, weekends, holidays, and non-traditional business hours.
- Proficient in using technology for customer interactions (e.g., register, iPhone, calculator).
- Ability to stand or walk for up to 100% of working time.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally to frequently.
- Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl frequently.
Pay
Pay range: $20.25 - $29.00 per hour. The successful candidate's actual pay rate will consider skill sets, experience, training, location, and other organizational needs. This position may also be eligible for additional incentive compensation, such as bonuses or other variable pay.
