DSW Associate Store Manager
About the role
Supports and performs customer service, merchandising, omni activities, and all inventory-related actions alongside store management to drive sales and results. Partners with the management team to understand daily, weekly, and monthly store priorities. Participates in and supports merchandise placement, fulfillment, store recovery, and monitoring of associate compliance with company policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Elevate in-store experience by modeling Customer Experience Leader (CEL) behaviors and coaching associates to achieve store goals and KPIs.
- Respond to customer and associate requests or feedback with urgency; ensure customers have a positive experience by maintaining DSW store standards.
- Complete all tasks related to daily store open/close, including cleaning, recovery, and maintenance.
- Review and communicate action plans to ensure all tasks are completed throughout the day, week, and month.
- Improve metric-based goals by reviewing, understanding, and communicating daily, weekly, and monthly progress.
- Increase sales by leveraging inventory reports to maximize productivity and merchandise presentations on the sales floor.
- Ensure execution of processes related to audits, donations, transfers, mismates, and damages.
- Work closely with the Store Manager to ensure compliance with all policies and procedures.
- Set clear expectations, participate in, and follow up on all inventory-related activities, including freight receipt, product placement, markdowns, and mark out of stock (MOOS).
- Set clear expectations, participate in, and follow up on all omni activities, including Charge/Send and Buy Online Pick Up In Store (BOPIS).
- Collect and submit all supply needs to ensure successful store operations.
- Ensure a safe environment for customers and associates; report equipment issues to the Store Manager.
- Equip associates to resolve customer concerns and escalate to the Store Manager when necessary.
- Support the Store Manager with associate timekeeping activities, including scheduling, forecasting, and payroll management.
- Assist in resolving associate relations matters and provide feedback on associate performance.
- Recognize the store team through company recognition tools and support team development through training, coaching, and motivation.
- Assist in recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding Store Associate candidates.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Store Manager and/or Co-Manager.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of management experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent; some college preferred.
Skills
- Excellent customer service, professionalism, and enthusiasm.
- Ability to develop collaborative working relationships.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work at a fast pace and hold the team accountable for time-bound expectations.
- Must be available to work nights, weekends, holidays, and shifts outside traditional business hours.
- Proficient in using technology for customer interactions (e.g., register, iPhone, calculator).
- Ability to stand or walk for up to 100% of working time.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally to frequently.
- Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl on a frequent basis.
Pay
$19.20 - $29.00 per hour. The successful candidate's actual pay rate will consider skill sets, experience, training, location, and other organizational needs. This position may also be eligible for additional incentive compensation, such as bonuses or other variable pay.
