DST Trailer Mechanic, B shift (Springdale, LH Garage)

About the role

Truck preventive maintenance technician working cross-functionally across multiple areas of the garage. Responsibilities include routine preventive maintenance repairs on trucks, emergency mechanical or electrical repairs, and minor structural welding and cutting tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine preventive maintenance repairs on trucks
  • Diagnose and repair truck engine and systems using diagnostic programs
  • Perform minor structural welding and cutting tasks
  • Safely apply knowledge and troubleshooting skills to all assigned equipment
  • Effectively communicate with transportation personnel including managers, drivers, and clerks
  • Read and interpret instructions, manuals, and schematics
  • Use basic math skills to perform tasks at a satisfactory level
  • Document information, process daily work orders, and complete required documentation using basic computer skills
  • Perform service calls on equipment at remote locations (valid driver’s license required)

Requirements

  • Current valid driver’s license
  • Must pass MVR check
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • No DUI/DWI convictions within the last 12 months
  • Must have 3 months of employment in the last 6 months with a single company
  • Prior Tyson team members are eligible for rehire after completing a 180-day waiting period
  • Prior Tyson team members cannot have worked 3 times or more for Tyson Foods
  • Willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation
  • Must advance to ME02 within 12 months of hire date (failure to do so will result in inability to meet job requirements)

Qualifications

  • ME01 (Trainee): Tools required; 3 months experience preferred but not required
  • Show proficiency on standard preventive maintenance (PM1’s, PM2’s for trucks or trailers depending on mechanic classification)
  • Brake Inspector Certification
  • Wheel end class/certification
  • Basic Electrical knowledge
  • Ability to identify fault codes
  • Proficiency in all tasks above must be demonstrated before advancement (graded through preventive maintenance process and reviewed by Shop Manager, Shop Supervisor, Lead, and two senior technicians; official sign-off by Shop Manager/Supervisor)
