About the role
MARC, Inc. of Manchester is a not-for-profit agency supporting people with disabilities in Manchester, Connecticut and surrounding towns since 1952. Responsibilities
- Develop and enhance natural supports in community businesses employing individuals supported by MARC, Inc.
- Learn each individual’s job by mastering job requirements according to Policies and Procedures, Job Description, and employer standards.
- Provide all necessary supports so the individual can perform their job according to the employer’s Policies and Procedures.
- Assist the individual in developing natural supports and mastering their job description, while gradually reducing your own support.
- Educate the individual on employer Policies and Procedures, Job Descriptions, emergency and safety procedures, social events, and other key workplace information.
- Provide information on transportation options and assist the individual in coordinating or training for these options.
- Manage an assigned caseload, including writing reports, making phone contacts, attending meetings, and providing employment and other necessary supports for success and satisfaction.
- Complete all documentation in compliance with MARC Policies and Procedures and other monitoring agencies.
- Support individuals in participating in self-advocacy activities if they choose.
- Perform subcontract work and agency custodial duties as needed.
- Transport individuals in agency or personal vehicles when necessary, ensuring vehicle cleanliness, proper maintenance, and reporting repairs to the Employment Coordinator.
- Attend in-services, outside agency meetings, all-staff meetings, committee meetings, and employee meetings as specified.
- Work schedules and hours are subject to change based on the needs of people with disabilities.
- Perform other duties as designated by the Employment Coordinator.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Knowledge of proactive thinking and positive supports.
- Ability to drive and use a personal vehicle to transport employees and/or yourself.
- Ability to obtain a public service license and maintain personal auto liability insurance and registration.
- Ability to lift nonambulatory people and perform frequent sitting, walking, and driving.
- Understanding and ability to practice agency policies and State and Federal laws, policies, and regulations.
- Ability to analyze situations, develop creative solutions, and act quickly while remaining calm in a crisis.
- Ability to train and consult with employees and other individuals both internally and within the community.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to organize, be flexible, work alternative hours, maintain a neat work area, and work independently.
- Must be able to complete all essential job duties, minimum qualifications, and physical efforts with or without a disability.
Physical Efforts
- Frequent sitting, walking, standing, and driving.
- Ability to lift and transfer up to 30 lbs. and occasional lifting of nonambulatory people.
