About the Role
MARC, Inc. of Manchester is a not-for-profit agency supporting people with disabilities in Manchester, Connecticut and surrounding towns since 1952. The Part-Time Direct Support Professional in our Group Supported Employment department ensures each individual realizes their career plan goal by seeking dignified and respectful employment, providing necessary supports to master job descriptions, and developing natural supports in the workplace.
Responsibilities
- Develop and enhance natural supports in community businesses employing individuals supported by MARC, Inc.
- Learn the individual's job by developing complete knowledge of job requirements according to Policies and Procedures, Job Description, and standards established by the community employer.
- Provide all necessary supports so the individual can perform their job according to the employer's Policies and Procedures.
- Assist the individual in developing natural supports and mastering their job description criteria while reducing your own support over time.
- Educate the individual regarding the employer's Policies and Procedures, Job Descriptions, emergency and safety procedures, social events, and all other information important to fully participate in their work site.
- Manage an assigned caseload, including support writing reports, making phone contacts, attending meetings, and providing employment and other necessary supports for the individual's success and satisfaction.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to obtain CT license, auto-registration, and vehicle insurance, as driving is required.
- Knowledge of proactive thinking and positive supports.
Physical Efforts
- Frequent sitting, walking, standing, and driving.
- Ability to lift and transfer up to 30 lbs. and occasional lifting of nonambulatory people.
