Role Overview

The Department for Persons with Disabilities (DPD) is seeking dedicated, caring, and compassionate individuals to serve as Direct Support Professionals/Overnight Residential Counselors (DSP).

Responsibilities

  • Help meet the personal health, safety, and welfare of the people living in the group home.
  • Assist and/or supervise individuals in personal care areas such as bathing/toileting.
  • Participate and/or supervise in cleaning, cooking, and life skills activities.
  • Administer and/or assist with medication administration.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers, and the individuals living in the homes.
  • Drive residents to/from day programs, outside/within their community using agency vehicles.
  • Daily documentation of services provided.
  • Aid in organizing fun community-based activities.

Requirements

  • Motivated to work as part of a team that prioritizes the best interests of residents.
  • Experience with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (ID/DD) is preferred.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • A valid (non-provisional) drivers license.
  • Ability to meet the physical requirements of CPR/First Aid and emergency evacuation procedures.

Pay and Schedule

  • Regular Salary: $20.49 per hour for Monday through Friday shifts and $21.49 per hour for shifts beginning at 11 PM Friday through 11 PM on Sunday.
  • Non-work time will be paid at the base rate.
  • Part-time shift: 16 hours per week, including Saturdays and Sundays from 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM.

Qualifications

  • Must successfully complete criminal background/references/DMV check, fingerprinting, pre-employment physical, and drug test.
  • All staff must attend a monthly Staff Meeting, with meeting waivers provided for conflicts due to secondary employment and/or school (documentation required).
