DIRECT SUPPORT PROFESSIONAL

About the role

RHD is a leading nonprofit organization in Delaware dedicated to helping individuals achieve greater independence, confidence, recovery, and success. We collaborate with community partners, healthcare providers, and government agencies to provide essential services to those in need.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, grooming, meal preparation, nutrition, laundry, housekeeping, and daily routines.
• Support individuals in developing and maintaining independent living skills and personal responsibility.
• Absorb medication routines in accordance with agency policies and procedures.
• Encourage participation in community, recreational, educational, and social activities.
• Help individuals develop meaningful relationships and community connections.
• Provide guidance, supervision, and positive role modeling to build confidence, independence, and life skills.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and supportive residential environment.
• Observe and report changes in physical, emotional, or behavioral health.
• Complete accurate and timely documentation in accordance with agency standards, HIPAA requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
• Collaborate with supervisors, nurses, clinicians, family members, and interdisciplinary team members.
• Participate in team meetings, ongoing training, and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid Delaware Driver’s License.
• Minimum three (3) years of acceptable driving history.
• Ability to meet organizational driving requirements.
• Patient, dependable, and positive.
• Team-oriented and service-focused.
• Committed to person-centered and recovery-oriented care.

Skills

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building abilities.
• Strong organizational and follow-up skills.
• Basic computer skills; Microsoft Office experience is a plus.

Schedule

• Full-Time, Part-Time, and PRN opportunities available.
• Day, evening, overnight, weekend, and holiday shifts may be available.
• Community outings and transportation responsibilities required.
