DSP (Direct Support Professional)

About the role

AmeriWell Care is seeking a compassionate, reliable, and dedicated Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide one-on-one support for an individual receiving respite services in Manchester, New Jersey. The DSP will assist with daily living activities, community engagement, supervision, and ensure the individual's health, safety, and overall well-being.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care and support in the individual's home and community
• Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed
• Promote independence, dignity, and person-centered care
• Accompany and support the individual during community outings and recreational activities
• Maintain accurate documentation and daily notes
• Communicate effectively with family members, care team members, and agency staff
• Follow all AmeriWell Care policies and NJ DDD requirements

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred
• DSP, caregiver, HHA, CNA, or related experience encouraged
• Reliable transportation and valid driver's license
• Ability to pass background screening and complete required trainings
• Strong communication, patience, and interpersonal skills
• CPR/First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)
