This role is crucial for managing the recruitment process for commercial driver's license (CDL) holders, primarily from an office or remote location. The Inside CDL Driver Recruiter identifies, screens, interviews, and hires qualified CDL drivers to meet staffing needs, ensuring a skilled and dependable workforce vital to the transportation and logistics industry.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize 10thStreet ATS, online databases, and referrals to source potential CDL drivers.
  • Initiate contact with candidates through phone calls, emails, and other communication methods to assess interest and qualifications.
  • Provide information, build rapport, and influence potential drivers to join Stevens Transport Inc.
  • Review DOT, state, local, and company requirements to assess candidates' qualifications, experience, and compliance with CDL standards.
  • Interview pre-qualified candidates according to minimum hiring requirements of Stevens Transport and DOT.
  • Conduct in-depth phone interviews to evaluate candidates' driving skills, work history, and alignment with company standards.
  • Ensure candidates meet hiring criteria and regulatory requirements by verifying driving records, criminal records, and employment history.
  • Maintain accurate records of candidate documentation and information.
  • Coordinate and conduct in-depth interviews to assess candidates' decision-making skills, professionalism, and commitment to safety.
  • Administer relevant tests or assessments to evaluate candidates' abilities.
  • Collaborate with hiring managers to identify the most suitable candidates for CDL driver positions.
  • Extend job offers and negotiate compensation packages as needed.
  • Assist in coordinating the onboarding process, including orientation, training, and compliance with company policies and safety regulations.
  • Schedule and confirm new hires for orientation and training.
  • Generate and maintain accurate recruitment-related reports, including metrics on candidate sourcing, interviews, and hiring outcomes.
  • Utilize recruitment software and databases to manage candidate data efficiently.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with current and potential CDL drivers to build a strong talent network.
  • Attend industry events, job fairs, and networking opportunities to promote the company and attract talent.
  • Maintain constant communication with applicants throughout the recruiting lifecycle, including status updates, requests for additional information, and approval/denial notifications.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in using applicant tracking systems (ATS), recruitment software, and related tools.
  • Strong computer and typing skills in a Windows environment (Outlook, Excel, Word).
  • Ability to handle high volumes of inbound and outbound calls and emails.
  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment with rapidly changing priorities and competing deadlines.
  • Strong customer service skills for candidates, hiring managers, and senior-level management.
  • Ability to take initiative and work both autonomously and as a team player.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of CDL requirements, FMCSA regulations, and industry standards.
  • Previous experience in recruitment, particularly in CDL driver recruitment or transportation/logistics.
  • Exceptional organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Commitment to safety and compliance.
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate candidate documentation.
  • Exceptional oral, written, interpersonal, and active listening skills.
  • Experience with TenStreet ATS.

Pay

Hourly pay + bonus structure.

Schedule

Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
