Driver II - Amtrak - Chicago Main
About the role
The Driver II operates vehicles under 26,000 lb such as a passenger bus or a straight truck with air brakes or a combination vehicle. Drivers in this position hold a Class C CDL drive non-air brake passenger buses. The role requires efficient, consistent, safe, and timely service.
Responsibilities
- Complete a daily vehicle inspection form before and after driving.
- Maintain a pleasant and clean atmosphere in and out of the vehicle.
- Operate safety equipment and wear seat belts.
- Drive defensively, safely, and cautiously.
- Provide exceptional customer service to guests.
- Pick up and drop off guests at designated locations.
- Ensure all vehicle logs are completed properly.
- Work with Transportation Office dispatcher for special requests and group requests.
- Assist with warehouse driver tasks, transporting equipment to and from the warehouse.
- Perform maintenance and safety inspections on service trucks, pickups, trailers, and other vehicles.
- Take vehicles to car wash when necessary.
- Assist with clerical work, answering phones, and working as a dispatcher.
- Sell and dispense propane, following federal dispensing laws.
- Handle cash, traveler’s checks, and credit cards safely and accurately.
- Attend all scheduled department and safety meetings.
- Develop and implement innovative ideas to improve efficiency and operations.
Requirements
- Age 21 or older.
- At least 1 year of professional driving experience and vehicle mechanical experience.
- Valid Commercial Driver License (Class B or C) with a clean driving record.
- Pass a DOT physical examination and obtain a medical card.
- Pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol test and participate in the random drug/alcohol testing pool.
- Complete and pass a Defensive Driving Course.
Qualifications
- Effective communication skills in written and spoken English.
- Customer service experience.
Skills

Pay
The Hourly rate for this position is $22.00 to $22.00. This is Aramark's good faith and reasonable estimate of the compensation for this position as of the time of posting.
Schedule
Little or no travel required (less than 10%). This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and extended walking and standing.
