About the role

Under the direction of the shift supervisor and/or the shift team leader, the CDL Shuttle Driver will be responsible for operating a semi-tractor trailer vehicle for the loading and delivery of products to/from the plant to the warehouse in a manner consistent with all safety, quality, and operational work instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate the shuttle vehicle on each trip and follow all applicable laws and company policy.
  • Maintain records involving trailer numbers and vehicle positions.
  • Interact daily with warehouse supervisors and comply with warehouse safety requirements.
  • Communicate using cellular telephone or 2-way radio with operations and warehouse personnel in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Maneuver trucks into loading and unloading positions, following signals from loading crew as needed.
  • Place safety wheel chocks in front of wheels/tires to prevent trailer from rolling.
  • Ensure proper placement of trailer jack stands when pup trailer movement is involved; notify customer if no jack stand is installed.
  • Properly use airline/electrical hookups and follow backing procedures.
  • Follow all company policies, guidelines, and quality procedures.
  • Perform daily inspections and minor maintenance on equipment.
  • Assist in maintaining the security of the warehouse and yard.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
  • Work overtime as dictated by business, whether mandatory or voluntary.

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Class A CDL with Hazmat endorsement.
  • Minimum 2 years of verified tractor-trailer experience within the past 4 years.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Meet DOT physical requirements and maintain valid medical certificate.
  • Pass road and backing test during onboarding.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Class A CDL: Combination of vehicles with a GVWR of 26,001 lbs. or more, provided the GVWR of the vehicle(s) towed is in excess of 10,000 lbs.

Other Requirements

  • Ability to work in unregulated temperatures within the warehouse during warmer and colder months.

  • Computer Skills: Basic computer skills.
  • Language Skills: English (reading, writing, verbal).
  • Mathematical Skills: Basic math.
  • Ability to work as assigned outside and in a warehouse environment.
  • Ability to read and follow manufacturer's instruction manuals.
  • Ability to accomplish tasks in a timely manner.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently or within a group.
  • Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision or guidance.
  • Ability to effectively adapt to change and thrive in a stimulating, fast-paced work environment.

Physical Demands

  • Occasionally: Bending.
  • Frequently: Walking and standing.

  • Ability to lift/carry and push/pull 11–20 pounds.
  • Reach above shoulder, squat, or kneel.

Work Environment

  • Rarely exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.

Pay

For this position, the expected base pay range is $26.50 – $28.50 hourly. Actual compensation will be determined based on job-related factors such as relevant experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location, in accordance with applicable laws and company policy.
