About the Role

This mid-level part-time Driver position involves safely delivering trucks and buses on a timely schedule to customers while adhering to company safety regulations, federal guidelines, and state laws. The role requires three years of experience and/or demonstrated job-relevant knowledge and skills, with moderate expertise in standard and technical concepts, practices, and procedures. The incumbent is expected to model company values, collaborate with internal and external resources, and engage in ongoing self-development.

Responsibilities

• Model, promote, reinforce, and reward the consistent use of HOLT’s Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools, models, and processes.
• Respond to company needs by ensuring prompt, accurate, and efficient transport of buses.
• Secure materials and vehicles on transport equipment, complying with state and federal guidelines for safe transport and weight capabilities.
• Successfully pass inspections at D.O.T. mobile and fixed scale locations.
• Safely operate buses under diverse weather and traffic conditions while adhering to schedules and route timetables.
• Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle safety checks and recommend repairs or maintenance as needed.
• Report incidents clearly to dispatch and complete factual logs or accident reports.
• Maintain the cleanliness of the vehicle interior throughout the shift.
• Accurately complete D.O.T.-required driver daily logs without misrepresentation; maintain no more than three moving violations within a twelve-month period.
• Comply with all state requirements, HOLT safety and health guidelines, and yearly management records.
• Travel to assigned branch locations and operate from those sites for multiple consecutive days or weeks as required.
• Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety standards, ensuring regular and punctual attendance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum of 2 to 5 years of professional commercial passenger driving experience.
• Ability to pass a DOT physical and routine drug screenings.
• Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class B, with Passenger (P) endorsement and Air Brake clearance.
• Clean DMV record with no recent major moving violations or at-fault accidents.

Skills & Expertise

• Demonstrated knowledge of heavy industrial engines, transportation logistics, and safe driving procedures.
• Understanding of Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and DOT guidelines.
• Proficiency with current computer software, related hardware, and machine electronic systems.
• Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
• Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and equipment used in mechanical repair.
• Precise hand-eye coordination to grasp, manipulate, or assemble small objects.
• Knowledge of customer service principles, including needs assessment and quality standards.
• Quality control analysis skills for testing and inspecting products, services, or processes.
• Operation and control skills for managing equipment or systems.
• Ability to read maps and operate GPS systems.
• Strong attention to safety and ability to maintain a clean driving record.
• Ability to stay calm and manage unexpected route delays or traffic stress.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to remain in a stationary position 100% of the time.
• Frequently move materials or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Constant movement and use of limbs, requiring good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina.
• Ascend and descend ladders using a three-point contact method.
• Safely maneuver and work underneath equipment.
• React to visual, auditory, and other signals, including alarms and traffic hazards.
• Visually inspect work.

Work Environment

• Work in a closed commercial vehicle or equipment for extended periods.
• Wear common protective or safety equipment.
• Work outdoors, exposed to all weather conditions, including extreme temperatures, heavy rain, and wind.
• Exposure to highway noise, distracting engine sounds, and vibrations.
• Occasional exposure to small quantities of vehicle chemicals, fluids, steam, and high-pressure water.

Travel up to 100% may be required. No supervisory responsibilities are associated with this role.
