What You'll Be Doing
- Transport meals and related supplies to homebound older adults.
- Escort and assist elderly and infirm clients safely in and out of vehicles when necessary.
- Maintain safe vehicle operation and comply with all traffic regulations and agency driving procedures.
- Immediately report accidents, traffic violations, or vehicle concerns to a supervisor.
- Monitor client well-being during deliveries and report unusual situations to program coordinators.
- Communicate promptly with supervisors regarding any safety or client-related concerns.
- Provide respectful, compassionate, and professional interactions with older adults.
Vehicle Maintenance & Operations
- Arrange for vehicle fuel and oil purchases in accordance with agency procedures.
- Check fluids, tires, and vehicle condition regularly.
- Ensure vehicles contain required emergency equipment, including spare tires and jacks.
- Maintain vehicles in clean and safe operating condition at all times.
- Change tires when necessary.
Meal Program Support
- Assist with meal packaging and preparation activities.
- Clean thermal containers, delivery bags, and related equipment.
- Aid in maintaining clean food preparation and storage areas.
- Support food and paper supply storage activities at the center.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Maintain trip tickets and required operational records.
- Collect participant contributions, issue receipts, and reconcile collections with supervisors according to agency procedures.
Additional Responsibilities
- Perform additional duties and assignments as requested.
What You'll Need
- Minimum of one year of driving experience required.
- Valid New York State Class A, B, or CDL Driver’s License required.
- Clean driving record required.
- No more than one (1) moving violation while operating a personal or commercial motor vehicle within the past two (2) years.
- No DUI or DWI within the last eight (8) years.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds or more.
- Ability to climb stairs and stand for extended periods of time.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to read, write, and speak English.
- Ability to work respectfully and effectively with older adults and understand their needs.
- Strong reliability, professionalism, and attention to safety.
