Key Areas Of Responsibilities & Duties
- Perform preventative maintenance such as changing oil, greasing, and replacing components on a scheduled routine basis on the on Hitachi EX5500 hydraulic shovels, P&H Electric 4100 XPC shovel, Komatsu PC 7000 Shovels, Atlas Copco hydraulic PV120 and DML drills.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment malfunctions by utilizing service manuals, parts books, electrical, and hydraulic manuals.
- Capable of reading and disseminating information from schematics and maintenance manuals.
- Communicates and coordinates all repairs with the maintenance supervisor.
- Ability to order correct parts for procurement from the warehouse or supplier.
- Implements continuous improvement of maintenance strategy that fully utilizes available workforce to achieve maximum equipment availability.
- Performs work area housekeeping duties.
- Determines if work areas are safe and free of hazards.
- Performs Field Level Risk Assessments.
- Performs basic welding and fabrication tasks.
- Determines severity of equipment down times and estimates time to make repairs.
- Responsible for compliance with company contamination control policies.
- Unwavering commitment to environmental stewardship including immediately reporting and mitigating spills and other environmental impacts.
Required Skills
- Must be able to communicate effectively, in English using all standard forms of business communication.
- Ability to work in a team oriented environment and support a 24/7 operation in strenuous physical conditions both indoors and outdoors, day and night shift.
- Excellent organizational and problem solving skills.
- Strong understanding of failure and wear analysis.
- Strong understanding of safety policies and procedures relating to mine equipment and maintenance practices (i.e. guarding, blocking, lock out tag out).
Required Experience
- Own and maintain required personal tools required.
- Individuals with strong experience in Shovel and Drill hydraulic and electrical systems preferred.
- Five years’ experience in a mine maintenance environment preferred.
- Experience with Cummins, Cat, and MTU/Detroit engines is desirable.
- Valid Driver License required.
